Transforming Real-World Manufacturing with Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning
Session Overview
This session introduces Reinforcement Learning as a general foundation for formalizing industrial decision processes in manufacturing chain, supply chain, and research chain to solve existing and potential tough problems. Real-world applications and lessons learned from deploying the technology in industrial settings will be shared. Attendees will gain insights into what Reinforcement Learning is from manufacturing industry viewpoint and how it can be practically applied to optimize complex industrial workflows and drive innovation.
Speaker

Dr. Hiroaki Kanokogi is a recognized leader in AI and CEO of Yokogawa Digital Corporation in Tokyo. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo and worked at Microsoft before joining Yokogawa in 2007. He is best known for co-creating FKDPP—the world’s first reinforcement learning AI to autonomously control complex plants—advancing both productivity and sustainability, e.g. achieving a 40% reduction in steam usage at a chemical plant. FKDPP was honored with the prestigious Prime Minister’s Industry Technical Award (2023) in Japan.
