Professor Joo Young-Seob earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from KAIST, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Over his career, he has built expertise spanning both industrial practice and policy.
He began his career with hands-on experience at Daewoo Motors, Daewoo Shipbuilding, and Daewoo Electronics, later serving as President of GE Thermometrics Korea, CEO of Asia-Pacific operations at Taepyungyang, and CEO of Hyundai Autonet. These roles gave him balanced insights into corporate management and technology at the frontlines.
Beyond industry, he has also held leadership positions in government and policy, including serving at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy in R&D strategy planning and SME policy. This extensive background across academia, industry, government, and policy equips him with a unique perspective on innovation.
Currently, he serves as Distinguished Professor at Seoul National University, researching digital transformation, AI transition, smart cities, and industrial innovation strategies. He is also actively engaged in nurturing startups and fostering global collaboration.
