From Code to Agency: Open Source and Standards for the Next Generation of AI Agents

AI Summit Seoul 2025 35 min

Session Overview

As AI advances from static models to dynamic, autonomous agents, openness is essential to ensuring transparency, reproducibility, and trust. Matt White, Executive Director of the PyTorch Foundation and GM of AI at the Linux Foundation, will discuss how open source, open standards, and new licensing models like the Open Model, Data and Weights License (OpenMDW) address gaps in traditional software licenses across the AI lifecycle. He will explore the emerging frontier of agentic AI, including protocols such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication, and the AGNTCY framework, highlighting their role in enabling interoperability, governance, and accountability for autonomous systems that are aligned with shared values.
